Starlink Uganda Packages: Monthly Prices and How to Choose in 2026

Starlink Uganda Packages

Last updated: September 2026

Starlink Uganda packages give households, businesses and travellers different ways to use satellite internet. The choice starts with a simple question: Will the connection stay at one address, or does it need to travel with you? After that, consider how many people will use it, what they will do online and how much performance matters during busy hours.

At Starlink’s Uganda launch, Residential Lite was reported at approximately UGX 203,704 per month and Residential at approximately UGX 285,185 per month. These are useful budgeting figures, but they are not a guaranteed quote. Starlink can change prices and available plans, so enter your actual service address on the official Starlink website before ordering. Orbitlink Solutions

This guide compares the main package types, explains the difference between monthly service and equipment costs, and helps you choose a suitable setup for a home, office, lodge or mobile operation in Uganda.

Starlink Uganda packages at a glance

Package type Reported or quoted monthly price Intended use Main consideration
Residential Lite About UGX 203,704 at launch A home at a fixed address Lower priority during network congestion
Residential About UGX 285,185 at launch A home at a fixed address Better choice when the household relies heavily on the connection
Roam Check the current Uganda account quote Portable use and travel Data, travel and in-motion rules depend on the specific plan
Local or Global Priority Request a current quote Eligible commercial and specialist operations Choose according to location, data needs and service terms

The two residential prices above are reported September 2026 launch prices. They should be checked at checkout. Starlink’s Roam and Priority offerings have separate terms, and a price displayed for another country should not be presented as a Uganda price. Orbitlink Solutions

1. Residential Lite: the lower-cost home package

Residential Lite is aimed at households that want a fixed Starlink connection with a lower monthly bill. Based on the reported launch price, it costs about UGX 203,704 per month.

It may suit a household using the internet for browsing, messaging, schoolwork, video calls and moderate streaming. The important distinction is network priority: Lite traffic can receive lower priority than standard Residential traffic when the network is busy. That may affect speeds at peak times, even when the equipment and Wi-Fi are working properly. Orbitlink Solutions

Residential Lite is worth considering if the household can tolerate some variation in performance. If several people depend on simultaneous work calls, large uploads or heavy streaming every evening, compare it carefully with Residential.

2. Residential: for a busier fixed home

The standard Residential package was reported at approximately UGX 285,185 per month when Starlink launched commercially in Uganda. It is designed for use at a fixed service address and has higher network priority than Residential Lite. Orbitlink Solutions

Residential may be the better fit for a larger family, a home with multiple simultaneous streams, or someone who regularly works from home. It can also make sense where the connection supports several essential activities at once, such as video meetings, online learning and cloud backups.

The reported difference between the two home packages is UGX 81,481 per month, or UGX 977,772 over twelve months at those launch prices. That makes Lite attractive when it meets your needs. Residential earns its higher cost when stronger priority matters to the household.

Neither package guarantees one fixed speed. Performance can vary with congestion, weather, sky obstructions, Wi-Fi coverage and the services you access.

Residential Lite versus Residential

Question Residential Lite Residential

Starlink states that in-motion use is not permitted on Residential or Residential Lite. If you need internet while travelling, review the applicable mobility plan and equipment instead. starlink.com

3. Roam: for portable use

A Roam plan is relevant when the Starlink kit needs to move between places: for example, with a field team, a travelling professional, a temporary project or a safari operation. It should be assessed separately from a home plan.

Starlink has described Roam options with different data arrangements, including a 50GB option and an Unlimited option. The exact plans, prices and eligibility shown to a Ugandan customer should be checked in the Starlink account before purchase. A traveller should also confirm where the plan can be used, whether their equipment supports the intended setup and whether in-motion use is permitted. Portable use and use on a moving vehicle are different requirements. starlink.com

Roam can be useful for tourism teams, researchers and contractors who change locations. A lodge that stays in one place, however, should assess its fixed-site requirements rather than choosing a mobile package solely because the property is remote.

4. Priority packages: for specific business requirements

A business may need more than internet access for a few devices. Hotels, clinics, schools, NGOs and multi-site companies may have guest networks, payment systems, VPNs, cloud applications or staff who cannot afford lengthy interruptions.

Starlink offers Local Priority and Global Priority service categories with data options. Which one is suitable depends on where the terminal operates and what the organisation needs it to do. The plan should be selected alongside the internal network design, backup power and any second internet connection used for failover. starlink.com

Before requesting a quote, write down:

  • The installation location and whether the equipment will move.
  • The number of simultaneous users.
  • Applications that are critical to operations.
  • Expected monthly data use, especially cloud backups and CCTV uploads.
  • The buildings or outdoor areas that need Wi-Fi.
  • Whether the business needs a backup connection or special network configuration.

A monthly plan alone will not provide Wi-Fi across an entire hotel, school or office compound. That may require access points, cabling, switches and a suitable router.

Does the monthly package include the Starlink kit?

Budget for the equipment separately from the subscription. At launch, the Starlink Mini Kit was reported at approximately UGX 1,306,741, and the Standard Kit at approximately UGX 1,743,778, before reported regulatory and delivery charges. Treat those figures as historical launch references and check the final Uganda checkout total. Orbitlink Solutions

Your complete first-month budget may include:

Kit + delivery and applicable charges + mounting materials + installation + first month’s service + any additional networking equipment.

The cheapest-looking kit quote may leave out items needed for a safe installation. For example, a property surrounded by trees may require a carefully chosen mounting position and a longer cable route. A business may also need Wi-Fi coverage beyond the room containing the Starlink router.

Standard or Mini: which kit suits your package?

The Standard Kit is a practical starting point for a permanent home or office installation. It can be mounted at a suitable fixed location with a clear view of the sky.

The Mini Kit is compact and easier to transport, making it attractive for portable setups. Its size does not automatically make it the best option for every fixed property or every business network. Compare the kit with the intended service plan, power source, user count and installation location before paying.

If you are buying equipment through a reseller, ask them to confirm account status, transfer eligibility and activation in Uganda. Ownership of a terminal does not by itself confirm that it can be activated on the plan you want.

Choosing a package for common Uganda use cases

A home in Kampala or another town

Start by comparing the reported Residential Lite and Residential prices with the fibre and mobile broadband available at your exact address. If Starlink will be a backup connection, think about how often it will actually carry traffic and what must remain online during an outage.

A rural home or farm

Where terrestrial broadband is limited, a fixed residential package may be useful even for a modest household. First check the service address and use the Starlink app to assess sky visibility. Trees, nearby buildings and poor placement can interfere with the connection regardless of the package chosen.

A lodge or hotel

Count guests and staff at peak occupancy. Decide whether Starlink will serve guest Wi-Fi, business operations or both. Then plan how internet will reach rooms and other buildings. A fixed lodge may need a professionally designed local network as well as a suitable Starlink service plan.

A mobile team

A field crew that regularly changes sites should examine Roam or another eligible mobile service. Confirm data terms, permitted locations, mounting, power and whether the terminal will be used only when stopped or also while moving.

An organisation with critical operations

A clinic, school or business should assess the cost of losing connectivity, not just the monthly subscription. Priority service, a secondary connection, backup power and network monitoring may be appropriate depending on the operation.

Five checks before ordering Starlink in Uganda

  1. Enter the real service address. This establishes which packages Starlink currently offers for that location.
  2. Confirm the final price. Review the monthly fee, kit, delivery and applicable charges in checkout.
  3. Match the plan to movement. A fixed Residential plan should not be selected for an operation that requires travel or in-motion use.
  4. Check the installation position. Assess sky obstructions, safe mounting, cable routing and power.
  5. Plan indoor Wi-Fi separately. The satellite link can work well while users still experience poor service in distant rooms or separate buildings.
